David Barber to Present Keynote Address The Future of Business Technology Education OBTA—An Association for Business Technology Educators and North Central Business Education Association (NCBEA) are proud to present David Barber as the keynote speaker for the 82nd Professional Development Conference in Columbus. David will bring his knowledge and expertise in the field of technology to share with us in his address regarding the future of business technology education. Currently, David is the Director for Technology Strategy at the Ohio Board of Regents (OBR). In that position, he serves as the liaison between OBR and its technology initiatives, including OhioLINK, the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC), OARnet, and the Ohio Learning Network. He is also involved with the strategic planning and policy development for major statewide technology infrastructure programs, including the creation and management of OSCnet. OSCnet is a dedicated high-speed fiber-optic network that serves K-12, colleges and universities, hospitals, and public broadcasting and focuses on the promotion of statewide research and economic development (www.osc.edu/oscnet). For the last several years, David has worked jointly with the Regents and OSC to support the development of projects that take advantage of the state network to support new forms of collaboration in areas ranging from telemedicine to shared scientific instrumentation and distance learning. David has also served in the capacity as the OBR designee on the eTech Ohio Commission. David’s address is certain to inform and inspire us to explore the future of business technology education across Ohio and throughout the north central region. His leadership efforts in the field of technology truly illustrate the conference theme, “Exploring New Worlds in Business Technology Education.” OBTA and NCBEA are very excited that David will be with us on October 30, 2009, in Columbus. |
