Robert O’Donnell, 2010 Distinguished Award Winner, Secondary Business Technology Educator

Robert received a Bachelor of Science in Business Education from Bowling Green State University in 1985. He earned a Master of Arts in Business Education from Bowling Green State University in 1988. Robert has 18 years in secondary business technology teaching experience. Currently, he teaches at Sandy Valley High School in Magnolia, Ohio.
His involvement at school includes teaching courses in interactive media, web page design, graphic design, and personal finance. He also serves as advisor for his school’s chapter of Business Professionals of America. He has received numerous grants that have benefited his students with up-to-date technology and he played an important role in the development of the Interprofessional Association Taskforce (IPAT) Professional Association Content Standards for Business. He has also served in numerous roles in his state professional association.
Robert stated, “I became a teacher because many wonderful dedicated teachers touched me.” Congratulations to this distinguished service award recipient for 2010.
Shawn Orr, 2010 Distinguished Award Winner, Post Secondary Business Technology Educator
“Shawn willingly shares her expertise and natural leadership with others who lack it, making it a positive experience for all. Her excellent work in OBTA and other professional organizations has not only enabled Shawn to grow professionally, but has also encouraged other faculty members to become involved as well.” These comments are from Shawn Orr’s letters of support.
Shawn received a Bachelor of Arts in Interpersonal Communication from Bowling Green State University in 1992. She earned a Master of Arts in Communication with emphasis in Curriculum Development from Bowling Green State University in 1996. Shawn has 16 years teaching experience in post-secondary business technology education. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor and Director of Faculty Development at Davis College in Toledo, Ohio.
She is an innovator in the classroom, having taught 22 different business courses in multiple course delivery methods. Shawn has participated and served in both local and state professional associations. Shawn has been instrumental in co-chairing a biennial trip to Chicago in which her students are immersed in real-world experiences in their major area of study. She has also been active in numerous accreditation and leadership activities and delivered several unique conference presentations.
Outside the classroom, Shawn is involved in numerous civic, community, and educational organizations. She truly exemplifies qualities she instills in her students every day. Congratulations, also, to this distinguished service award recipient for 2010.
