OBTA News You Can Use

The Fall Edition of the Beacon is available!

See it on the Publications page.

Dear OBTA Member:

Your professional association is pleased to offer you a copy of the Professional Association Content Standards for Business and its accompanying correlated academic content standards.  These documents were developed by the Inter-Professional Association Taskforce (IPAT) and endorsed by the three participating professional associations:

  • OBTA—An Association for Business Technology Educators;
  • Business and Information Technology Division of the Ohio Association for Career-Technical Education; and
  • Ohio Marketing Educators’ Association Division of the Ohio Association for Career-Technical Education.

The standards represent academic content and experience that the associations believe students should know and be able to do to be successful and contributing citizens in the global economic society. They serve as a curriculum framework that identifies the content students should learn about business from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Please note that two major references were used in preparing these standards:

  • National Standards for Business Education, National Business Education Association (NBEA), Reston, Virginia (www.nbea.org); and
  • National Marketing Education Standards, Marketing Education Resource Center (MarkED), Columbus, Ohio (www.mark-ed.org).

Other resources are listed in the References section at the end of the Preface.  Many of the statements in the documents are directly from the NBEA standards.  NBEA has granted the associations permission to provide paper copies to its members.  However, OBTA may not disseminate them electronically.

You are encouraged to read the Preface to understand the need for the standards and ways by which they can be used.  Those contributing to the development of these documents are also recognized in the Preface.

To obtain a copy of the documents, please send a check, made payable to OBTA-An Association for Business Technology Educators, in the amount of $30.39, along with a completed order form (see link below) to:

            ITT Technical Institute
            Attn: Matt White
3781 Park Mill Run Drive, Suite 1
            Hilliard, OH  43026

Standard shipping (U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail) is included in the cost. Orders for multiple copies are welcome—simply calculate the appropriate total cost at $30.39 per copy. Orders will not be shipped until payment is received – normal turnaround time is 3-5 business days after order receipt. Thank you for you continued interest in and support of business education in Ohio!

Sincerely,
