2010 CALL FOR PRESENTATION PROPOSALS

82nd Annual OBTA Professional Development

Conference

Proposals are now being accepted for the 2009 Professional Development Conference of OBTA – An Association for Business Technology Educators. The conference will be held on Thursday and Friday, October 21-22, 2010, at the Hilton Hotel, Akron, OH. The conference theme for 2009 is Soaring into “Emerging Technologies.”

Presentation for concurrent sessions or computer sessions are 60 minutes in length, and all proposals should reflect this length. Computer session proposals should clearly indicate whether the presentation will be a demonstration only or hands-on, as all hands-on computer sessions will be held at nearby ITT Technical Institute in Hilliard, Ohio (transportation provided) and appropriate software arrangements will need to be made in advance. Presentations may be made by a single presenter or multiple presenters. All proposals will be evaluated on the degree to which the presentation addresses critical issues or cutting-edge ideas, instructional strategies or techniques, new technologies, or learning styles. Consideration will also be given to the way in which the proposal relates to the conference theme.

Proposals should be submitted in Microsoft® Word document format (.doc or .rtf file type, please) and include the following information:

  1. Title of the presentation: A 100-word description of the presentation that clearly links presentation goals with the conference theme and objectives.
  2. Lead presenter’s name, title, institution/company, mailing address, work and/or home telephone with area code, and e-mail address.
  3. Type of presentation: concurrent session or computer session.
  4. Mode of presentation: PowerPoint, small group, panel, workshop, demonstration, hands-on, etc.
  5. If applicable, co-presenter’s name, title, institution/company, and e-mail address.

Please note: Presenters are expected to provide their own presentation equipment for concurrent sessions as well as any handouts for participants (assuming 20-30 participants per session). We will also be asking that an electronic copy of any handouts be submitted for possible electronic distribution following the conference.
