Tom Kishpaugh

2008 Secondary Business Technology Educator

“A sizeable percentage of our graduating seniors, whom we survey each year, include one or more of Tom’s classes among their favorite classes taken in high school.  Even though Tom left teaching and was successful in the business world…he came to realize that he was meant to be a teacher.”  These comments are from Tom Kishpaugh’s letters of support.

Tom received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Xavier University in 1971.  He earned a Masters of Education from Wright State University in 2000.  Tom has 17 years in secondary business technology teaching experience. His teaching career started at Glen Este High School and for the last nine years he has been a teacher at Carlisle High School. 

His involvement at school includes designing, implementing, and facilitating programs based on the Interactive Media standards.  With Tom’s influence over fifty percent of Carlisle’s students now take a Business Technology course each year. He has served on various curriculum committees and as a tennis coach advisor.  He has participated in and served in offices at both local and state professional associations. 

Tom stated, “For the first time in my life, I truly love my work with plans on continuing my teaching career well into my retirement years.” Congratulations to this distinguished service award recipient for 2008.

 

Rose M. Corgan

2008 Post-Secondary Business Technology Educator

“Rose is a leader at the college in distance learning.  Many faculty members come to her for direction in teaching online classes…Rose stays on the cutting edge of office information technology and she shares her knowledge willingly and enthusiastically both with her student and her peers.”  These comments are from Rose Corgan’s letters of support.

Rose received an Associate of Applied Business in Executive Secretary Studies from Cincinnati Technical & State Community College in 1979.  She earned her Bachelor of Science in Vocational Business & Office Education from the University of Cincinnati in 1980.  She returned to complete her Masters of Education in Business Education from the University of Cincinnati in 1984. Her teaching career started at Seton High School and for the past 25 years she has been with Raymond Walters College, University of Cincinnati.

She is a curriculum leader and has served on various college and department committees including the Task Force on Distance Learning.  Rose has participated and served in local, state, and national professional associations including several OBTA Conference Committees. She has been published in The Business Education Forum and co-authored a student workbook for South-Western Educational Publishing.  Congratulations, also, to this distinguished service award recipient for 2008.

Robert G. Berns

2008 Collegiate Business Technology Educator

Robert received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Bowling Green State University in 1970.  He earned a Master of Arts from The Ohio State University in 1975.  In 1978 he completed his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. His teaching career began as a Business and Marketing Educator at Urbana High School.  For the last 23 years he has served as an Associate and Full Professor at Bowling Green State University contributing to over 30 years of collegiate teaching experience in business and marketing education.

With over 40 publications to his name including The Business Education Forum and The Ohio Business Teacher, Robert has authored and co-authored books, chapters of books, monographs, and journal articles both referred and non-refereed.  Robert has chaired college and departmental committees such as curriculum, tenure and promotion, student evaluation instrumentation, and accreditation. He has also served on university task forces and committees such as Presidential Standards Committee for Scholarship of Engagement and Teacher Quality Success Partners. His honors and awards are numerous. He has participated and served in various local, state, regional, and national professional associations. 

Recently, he chaired the Ohio Business Education K-12 Standards for Inter-Professional Association Task Force (IPAT) and served on the Online Resources Advisory Committee for the Ohio Resource Center for Mathematics, Science, and Reading for Eisenhower National Clearinghouse at The Ohio State University. Congratulations, also, to this distinguished service award recipient for 2008.

 

Victoria A. Hammer

2008 Administrator/Supervisor

“Vicki’s strengths are especially notable.  First is her servant leadership.  She leads by example, builds consensus, and vets ideas before moving plans forward…Dr. Hammer is a dedicated leader and has special enthusiasm when that leadership involves technology and technology education…She has welcome responsibility and taken the lead in each position, establishing legacies along the way.”  These comments are from Victoria Hammer’s letters of support.

Victoria earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Education from the University of Cincinnati in 1973.  She received a Master of Education, Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Cincinnati in 1977.  In 2002 she obtained a Doctor of Education, Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Cincinnati completing her dissertation “The Influence of Interaction on Active Learning, Learning Outcomes and Community Bonding in an Online Technology Course.”

Currently, she is the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at the University of Cincinnati, Clermont College.  She also served the Office Information Technology Department at University of Cincinnati, Raymond Walters College.  Her publications include The Ohio Business Technology Educator and The Business Education Forum.

She has participated and served in local, state, and national professional associations including OBTA President, several OBTA Conference committees, and National Business Education Association Assistant Program Coordinator at three national conventions. Congratulations, also, to this distinguished service award recipient for 2008.
