“The nominee has dedicated a tremendous amount of her time and effort to participate in professional organizations for both herself and her students. I was so impressed from the first day of class at the professor’s demeanor, knowledge of material, and classroom management skills.” These comments are from Deb Howard’s letters of support.

Deb has been a continuous member of OBTA since 1999. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education in 1975. She earned her Masters of Art degree in Education from Ball State University in 1980. Her career has spanned 26 years, the last nine at the University of Cincinnati’s Raymond Walters College where she was just promoted to Associate Professor.

She is most proud of the fact that she was recently allowed to create a new class. She has been published in The Ohio Business Technology Educator and received honors and awards from a number of graduate/business education societies. Activities with her local education organizations have kept her extremely busy. She serves on numerous committees at work that allow her to assess and advise about programs being offered at Raymond Walters. She mentors adjunct faculty. She is most proud of her students’ confidence in her work. Congratulations, also, to this distinguished service award recipient for 2005.

“During her time of service, Pam has demonstrated mastery of a number of professional characteristics essential to the outstanding levels of success she has enjoyed in her multi-faceted position. She is an amazing teacher and person inside and outside the classroom.” These comments are from Pam Shelley’s letters of support.

Pam has been a continuous member of OBTA since 1998. She received a Bachelor of Science in Comprehensive Business Education from Morehead State University in 1974. She earned a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Teacher Leadership from Miami University of Ohio in 1995. Her teaching career started at New Miami High School and for the last 17 years she has been an outstanding teacher at Butler Tech/D. Russel Lee Career Technology Center.

Her involvement at work includes designing, implementing and facilitating programs. She has served as an advisor, reviewer, and negotiator. Her participation and offices held in local, state, regional and national professional associations are numerous.

Despite the changes in curriculum and methods, she feels teaching in the business field is still refreshing and challenging. Pam states that learning never stops. She believes educators should “Set your standards high—stay tough!” Congratulations to this distinguished service award recipient for 2005.
