Laurie Patlin

This year’s scholarship recipient, Laurie Patlin, has been an involved member of the business world for many years. Her many years of experience in this field led her to the decision to enter the field of business. At that point, she entered the graduate program in Business Education at Bowling Green State University.

In her words, “I want to work with students to teach them content that will be meaningful and useful for them not only in the classroom, but also in their work and in their life…Business education is so important and can open doors to countless opportunities within the workforce.” Throughout her graduate studies, this recipient has maintained a cumulative grade point average of 4.0.

One letter of recommendation notes, “[She] will do a fine job working with her students. She has a caring personality, which will serve her well as an educator. She has attention to detail and perseverance which is obvious from her time starting her own business.” Another letter of recommendation notes, “[She] is a natural educator and mentor and will make a fine addition [to any organization]”.
